Pedersoli™ 1862 Richmond Type III Musket – .58 Cal. – S.205.058 For Sale
The Pedersoli® 1862 Richmond Type III Rifle was historically produced on the same machinery and equipment that was originally used at the Harpers Ferry Arsenal that was closed on April 18th of 1861. The arsenal equipment was moved to Richmond, Virginia, the capital of the Confederacy during the civil war, where it was used to manufacture thousands of what are called Richmond Rifles to be issued to Confederate armies throughout the south.

The Pedersoli® 1862 Richmond Type III Rifle is manufactured with meticulous detail and truly captures the essence of the original Richmond Rifle. The barrel is a beautiful polished steel barrel that rests comfortably in an American walnut stock. Additionally, the rifle features fixed traditional steel open sights for targeting as well as polished and hardened percussion locks and hardware. The rifle features a .58 caliber barrel that is rifled and capable of firing both a patch and lead round ball or, as more commonly used in rifles of that time, a conical Minie Ball. The percussion sidelock of the Pedersoli® 1862 Richmond Type III Rifle features a removable nipple that comes standard in the #11 percussion capsize. To load the rifle a period-accurate steel ramrod has been included with the rifle and stores beneath the barrel for convenient and easy transportation. The Pedersoli® 1862 Richmond Type III rifle is approved for reenactment by the North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA).
The Richmond Rifle is very similar in design to the standard issue 1861 Springfield Rifle that was used by the armies of the unionist north during the civil war and offered the Confederate troops a more level playing field during the many battles that took place from 1862 to 1865. The Richmond rifle is a piece of American history that is truly a perfect addition for every collector, reenactor or simply sport shooters and hunters who wish to challenge themselves with a traditional rifle out in the field. Whatever your pursuit the Pedersoli® 1862 Richmond Type III Rifle is must have for everyone.
